Lightspeed Loyalty allows your customers to earn credits with every purchase, which can be redeemed on future transactions. This ensures customers are rewarded automatically and encourages repeat business.
Lightspeed Payments is required to enable Lightspeed Loyalty and track eligible card transactions for credits. If your account is not set up with Lightspeed Payments, check our Lightspeed Payments setup guide or reach out to your Lightspeed Account Manager for assistance.

Enabling Lightspeed Loyalty
Lightspeed Loyalty can be enabled in Back Office and applies at the company level. If you manage multiple sites, enabling it automatically activates it across all sites within the company. An email notification is sent to the site owner when the feature is enabled.
To enable Lightspeed Loyalty:
- Log in to Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Features.
- Search for and select Lightspeed Loyalty.
- Click Enable.
- Review the billing details shown in the Loyalty popup, then click Enable Loyalty.
Configuring Lightspeed Loyalty settings
You can configure your Loyalty settings to determine how many credits customers earn for every amount spent. Notifications for enrollment, credit usage, and SMS can also be managed directly in Back Office. Once Loyalty is enabled, navigate to the Settings tab to configure the following:
Customer signup link
Set up your loyalty sign up process so customers can join your loyalty program without staff assistance by using a unique signup URL or QR code. You can share the URL or QR code on social media, emails, receipts, table cards, or digital signage. Customers can then scan the QR code or open the URL to sign up for Lightspeed Loyalty.
Customers are required to provide their name and mobile number when signing up. These details are used to create their loyalty account and link their purchases to their membership.
- URL: A unique web address that customers can open to access the Lightspeed Loyalty signup page.

QR code: A scannable code that customers can use to quickly access the loyalty signup page.
Earning rule
Set up the earning rule by defining the spending amount required to qualify and the number of loyalty credits earned for each threshold.
- Amount spent: The amount a customer must spend to qualify for and get loyalty credits.

Amount earned: The amount awarded to the customer once the specified spending threshold is met.
Auto-prompts on POS
Check the boxes for each option to enable real-time POS updates whenever loyalty credits are earned or available to use.
- Show prompt at checkout to join loyalty when a new reward is earned.
- Show prompt for Fast Payments to join loyalty when a new reward is earned.
- Show prompt at checkout if loyalty is available to use.
- Show prompt for Fast Payments if loyalty credit is available to use.
SMS updates
Configure your SMS notification settings and how your business is shown in customer messages.

Company name: The name of your business that appears in SMS notifications sent to customers.
Digital wallets
You can customize your digital loyalty cards for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. The digital loyalty card displays the member's loyalty information and includes a QR code that you scan at the POS. You can configure the following settings to customize how your digital loyalty card appears to customers.
- Background colour: The background color displayed on the digital loyalty card. Choose from the available color palette.
- Banner image: The image displayed on the digital loyalty card. Use a PNG or JPEG file with a recommended size of 1125 × 432 pixels.
- Apple Wallet logo and icon: The logo and icon displayed on the Apple Wallet pass. Use PNG or JPEG files with recommended sizes of 480 × 150 pixels for the logo and 114 × 114 pixels for the icon.

Google Wallet logo: The logo displayed on the Google Wallet pass. Use a PNG or JPG file with a recommended size of 660 × 600 pixels.
Once finished, click Save changes, then manually sync the POS or sync registers from Back Office.
Enrolling a customer in Lightspeed Loyalty
Customers can join Lightspeed Loyalty directly at the POS with staff assistance at the POS or enroll themselves using a signup URL or QR code. Customers must provide their name and mobile number to join the loyalty program.
Staff enrollment
Staff can enroll customers directly at the POS during their first purchase or when they reach the spending threshold and earn loyalty credits.
Enroll a customer during their first purchase
This process is for new customers who want to join the loyalty program and start earning loyalty credits.
To enroll a customer during their first purchase:
- Enter the customer's order on the POS.
- Tap Add customer.
- In the Name and Mobile fields, enter the customer's personal or business name and mobile number.
- Select the checkbox for Loyalty program member to enroll the customer.
- (Optional) The Receive SMS updates about loyalty rewards earned checkbox is selected by default. You can deselect this if the customer opts out of SMS notifications.
- Tap Save.
Existing customers who haven't joined the loyalty program but have already earned loyalty credits can also be added by navigating to the Add customer section, then selecting the Loyalty program member checkbox.
Enroll a customer once the spending threshold is met
This process allows you to enrol returning customers in the loyalty program once they've reached the spending threshold and become eligible for credits. The available loyalty credits can be applied to their next purchase.
To enroll a customer once the spending threshold is met:
- Enter the customer's order on the POS.
- Tap the Checkout or the Fast Payment (lightning bolt) button.
- In the Loyalty reward earned popup, tap Join loyalty.
- For existing customers with accounts, the name and mobile number are filled in automatically. Verify that the details are correct. If the customer doesn't have an account, manually enter their name and mobile number.
- (Optional) The Receive SMS updates about loyalty rewards earned checkbox is selected by default. You can deselect this if the customer opts out of SMS notifications.
- Tap Save.
Customer self-enrollment
Customers can sign up for Lightspeed Loyalty using your unique loyalty signup URL or QR code. After completing the registration, they must identify themselves at the POS during their first visit by providing their mobile number or presenting their digital loyalty card QR code to the staff.
Enroll using a signup URL or QR code
Customers can join Lightspeed Loyalty independently by completing the following steps.
- Open the Loyalty signup URL or scan the QR code using a mobile device.
- Enter a full name and mobile number.
- (Optional) Enter an email address and date of birth.
- (Optional) Select marketing updates to receive marketing communications
- Tap Join now to complete the registration.
- After signing up, the next screen displays the spend progress toward the next reward, available credits, and total credits redeemed. Tap Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet to add the digital loyalty card.
Redeeming credits
Customers can redeem their earned loyalty credits towards future purchases by providing their name or mobile number. If the available credits can't cover the total order amount, any available prepaid balance is applied next. If no prepaid balance is available, the remaining amount can be paid using another payment method.
To redeem credits:
- Enter the customer's order on the POS.
- Tap Add customer.
- In the search field, search for the customer's name or mobile number.
- Select their account, then tap Save.
- (Optional) If the customer has added their loyalty card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, tap the Loyalty button at the top of the POS screen, then scan the QR code on their digital card to locate their account, then tap Save.
- Tap the Checkout or the Fast Payment (lightning bolt) button.
- In the Loyalty credit available popup, select Apply credit.
If the customer has a digital loyalty card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, a prompt will appear during checkout to scan their card. After the transaction is complete, they’ll receive a notification showing the loyalty credits they earned, which they can use on their next visit.
Using Lightspeed Loyalty on Lightspeed Kiosk
Lightspeed Loyalty works on Lightspeed Kiosk, so customers can earn and redeem credits when they place their own orders. To set up a kiosk, see Setting up Lightspeed Kiosk.
When a customer orders at a kiosk:
- They sign in to Lightspeed Loyalty or join with their mobile number.
- Any available credits from previous visits are displayed at checkout. Customers can apply them to the current order or save them for a future purchase.
- Complete the payment as usual.
- Credits earned from the current order are granted after payment and can be redeemed on the next visit.
Accessing Loyalty Insights
Loyalty Insights gives you visibility into how your loyalty program is performing across your business. It provides data that helps you understand customer participation, spending behaviour, and credit usage, so you can evaluate the effectiveness of your loyalty program.
To access Loyalty Insights:
- Navigate to Back Office.
- From the navigation menu, select People > Customers. Here, you can see:
- Loyalty members: The total number of customers enrolled in the loyalty program.
- Average loyalty order value: The average transaction amount for loyalty members.
- Total credits issued: The total number of loyalty credits awarded to loyalty members.

Frequently asked questions
Currently, only your business name can be updated in SMS notifications. The message format is fixed and cannot be changed.
No, loyalty credits do not expire and can be used at any time for purchases.
