Tableside powered by Tap to Pay on iPhone
An iPhone can now act as a POS and payment terminal, letting staff serve and process transactions wherever customers are.
We’ve made it easier for staff to take orders and payments directly at the table, counter, or outdoors. There’s no need to return to the register, ensuring service stays quick and uninterrupted.
You can now accept all major cards and digital wallets with a tap, split bills by amount or item, and process any transaction size from the same device.
By using your phone’s cellular data via the SIM card, you can keep running Tableside even during outages or when your venue is off-grid. It’s also ideal for mobile setups like market stalls or outdoor events.
All you need is an iPhone. Enable Tap to Pay in the POS menu, follow the Apple setup prompts, and start taking payments in minutes.
Lightspeed Payments bar tabs
We’ve launched Bar Tabs to make service smoother and reduce end-of-night friction. You can pre-authorize a limit on a customer’s card, allowing them to order freely up to that amount and close their tab without re-tapping the card.
Open and manage tabs directly from the POS. Once a pre-authorization is complete, staff can continue adding to orders without holding onto cards or handling cash.
We’ve built in a quick check to confirm that the pre-authorized amount is available on the customer’s card, so you’re covered before a single drink or dish is served.
When it’s time to settle, close the tab using the same pre-authorized card on file. There’s no need for the guest to present it again.
To get started, log in to Back Office, navigate to Features, search for Bar Tabs, and enable it. Your team can then open tabs straight from the POS.
Lightspeed Payments terminal branding
We’ve added the option to customize your Lightspeed Payments terminals with your own imagery or logo. This update helps align your payment experience with the rest of your brand without extra tools or setup.
Upload your own images to appear on Lightspeed Payments terminals, replacing the default screen with your venue’s logo or artwork.
This update allows you to create a more unified guest experience, one that carries your brand through from menu to checkout.
In Lightspeed Payments settings, you’ll now see a Terminal Branding section. Once enabled, the system lists all your terminals. Upload a JPG or PNG for each, and we’ll automatically resize and sync the images across devices.
After uploading, run a quick configuration update. Your new branding will appear instantly on all associated terminals.
