Powering on and boarding the terminal

After loading the paper, you can power on and board the V400m terminal. Ensure the terminal remains charged while you complete the onboarding process below.

To power on and board the terminal:

  1. Connect the power cable to the side of the terminal and plug the other end into a power source.
  2. If it doesn’t turn on automatically, press and hold the green circle button until the display turns on.
  3. Once powered on, tap Board terminal
  4. When the screen displays your business information, tap Confirm

When powered on for the first time or after a long period of inactivity, the terminal may run a 10–20 minute maintenance sync and update its software. The screen may also turn on and off a few times during this process.

Connecting the terminal to your Wi-Fi network

To pair your terminal with your Lightspeed Restaurant POS, start by connecting your terminal to the same Wi-Fi network as your POS register.

To connect the terminal to your Wi-Fi:

  1. Press the 9 key followed by the Confirm key (green circle) button on the terminal keypad.
  2. Enter the admin PIN: 5773.
  3. Tap Network > Wifi > Add network.
  4. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  5. Use the number pad or the on-screen keyboard to enter your Wi-Fi password.
  6. (Optional) If using the number pad, press the key repeatedly to cycle through the letters until the desired letter is displayed.
  7. Press the Confirm (green circle) button.
  8. Press the red x button to return to the home screen with the Lightspeed logo.

A Wi-Fi symbol should appear in the upper left corner of the screen, indicating an active connection.

Pairing the terminal with your POS

The next step is to pair your terminal with your POS. Each POS register can be paired with one payment terminal, but a terminal can be paired with multiple registers, allowing the POS registers to process payments through the same terminal.

To pair your terminal with the POS:

  1. Go to your POS.
  2. In the navigation menu, select Lightspeed Payments. A window will appear showing all terminals assigned to your site.

Frequently asked questions

Will my terminal automatically switch to 4G if the internet goes down?

Yes, the terminal will switch to 4G if it loses Wi-Fi connectivity. If the Wi-Fi signal remains active but the internet connection is unreliable, the terminal may not switch to 4G right away. In that case, you can disable Wi-Fi on the terminal to enable cellular connectivity so you can process standalone transactions.

To enable 4G connection on the terminal:

  1. Press the 9 key followed by the Confirm key to access the admin menu.
  2. Tap Network.
  3. Enter admin PIN: 5773.
  4. Toggle off the Wi-Fi switch.

Disabling the Wi-Fi allows your terminal to use 4G when the internet is down.

How do I power off the terminal?

To power off the terminal, press and hold the red x button on the terminal keypad until the screen shuts down.

How can I view the total amounts processed on my terminal?

You can view the total amount processed on the terminal by accessing the Totals report. This report summarizes sales, refunds, tips, and cancellations processed since the last reset. Resetting the report allows you to track totals by day or shift.

To access the Totals report:

  1. Press the 9 key followed by the Confirm key to access the admin menu.
  2. Tap Transaction.
  3. Tap Totals.
  4. Enter admin PIN: 5773 to access the following options:
    • View the totals from the previous and the current reporting period.
    • Print the report by tapping the Print button.
