Switching companies, sites, registers, Lightspeed apps, or users

Lightspeed Restaurant (O-Series) lets you manage multiple companies, sites, registers, and apps with a single login, giving you centralized control and flexibility in managing your operations.

This guide covers how to switch between apps, registers, companies, and sites, as well as how to switch users in case you're sharing a device.

Switching apps

The Lightspeed Restaurant platform includes multiple apps, such as Back Office, POS, Insights, Purchase, and Produce. If you're working in one app, you can switch to another app without logging out, giving you quick access to the tools you need to manage your business.

To switch apps:

  1. In Back Office, click the dropdown icon in the top-left corner.
    Launch apps
  2. Select the app you want to launch from the list of apps available on the platform.  Switch apps

Switching registers

In Lightspeed Restaurant, each device using the Point of Sale is assigned a register slot, which means one slot per device only. To change the register assignment, the device must be reassigned to an available, unoccupied register slot.

To allow more devices to access the POS simultaneously, you'd need to add additional registers

To switch register:

  1. In Back Office, select My Site
  2. Select Devices from the top section.
  3. Click the cogwheel icon to the right of the register you want to reassign.
    Unassign register
  4. Under Register status, click Unassign register
  5. Click Save settings in the top-right corner.
    Unassign Register
  6. Launch the POS on the device you want to use with this register.
  7. Select a register to assign it.

If the device is already assigned to a register, repeat the steps above to unassign it first before reassigning it to a different register.

Switching companies and sites

If you've created or have been invited to multiple companies or sites, switching between them is simple. The sites you can access depend on your permission level, as users can be assigned to specific sites through user settings.

Switching sites or companies in Back Office

  1. Navigate to your Back Office.
  2. Click your site name in the lower-left corner.  Switch site
  3. Select the site or company you want to switch to.
  4. (Optional) If you have a long list of sites, use the location search bar in the top left to quickly find a specific site. This is especially helpful and efficient, as it eliminates the need to scroll through the entire list.
