Frequently Asked Questions

How many devices can I connect to Lightspeed at a time?

Lightspeed is cloud-based and can be accessed from anywhere with internet.

Back Office - If you are wanting to make changes to your Account, view reports, manage users, edit products, view stock, and similar functions, you'll need to access the Back Office. For this part of the app, you can have as many people logged in at one time as you need.

Point of Sale - The number of devices that can access POS (at the same time) depends on how many registers you've set up from the Back Office. It is best to have one register per device that is used to take orders.

Should I use a mobile phone or tablet for taking orders?

Mobile devices with larger screens are great for this because you get a better view of everything at once.  Learn more about iPad / Android / Windows Device Best Practise.

What will happen if the Internet dies?

We’re all afraid of the internet dying. It’s one of the things that bind humanity.

It’s a good thing Lightspeed can work offline. Yes, you read that right.

During the period of Internet service outage, data is stored in the device. When the Internet comes back, the data will then be transferred to the cloud and it’s like nothing happened! Learn more about Using Lightspeed offline.
