Frequently asked questions
Lightspeed Restaurant is a cloud-based system, allowing you to access it from anywhere with an internet connection. For Back Office, where you manage settings such as user accounts, view reports, manage products, track inventory, there is no limit to the number of users or devices that can be logged in at the same time.
For the Point of Sale (POS), the number of devices that can be used simultaneously depends on how many registers are configured in the Back Office. It's recommended to assign one register per device used for taking orders.
The Back Office is inaccessible until the internet connection is restored. However, your POS can continue to function offline when there is no internet connection.
During an outage, you can still process orders on the POS and all order data is stored locally on the device. Once the internet connection is restored, your sales data is automatically synced to the cloud server.
Lightspeed Restaurant is compatible with a range of supported iOS and Android devices. Refer to our guide on support hardware for a full list of compatible devices.
