Selling with Variable Quantities & Prices

Need flexibility in entering quantities and prices at the POS, such as an Open Food or Open Drink product? Now you can set specific products to automatically ask you to enter a quantity or price.

Variable Quantity Prompt is useful for regularly selling a product by weight amount or other multiples:

  • Selling almonds by ounces
  • Selling coffee beans by kilogram
  • Selling Deli meats by the kilogram or gram
  • Selling tickets
  • Catering for __ number of people
  • Hiring out ______ for ___ many people

Variable Price Prompt is useful for selling products that are constantly changing their price:

  • Market Day pricing for menu items
  • Pricing for the roast of the day
  • Open food or open beverage - custom pricing on the fly

Variable Quantity and Variable Price Prompts can be activated separately or you can have both!

Note - These prompts appear automatically at the Point-of-Sale.

This guide covers how to set up and sell with these two features.

Maximize the full power of Lightspeed menu tools!

Make sure customers get exactly what they ordered. Record item changes, such as no salad or extra bacon, in just a few taps using Product Modifiers.

Enable your staff to add or remove ingredients or create combo meals. Prompt your staff to upsell. Or maybe you just need to organise your product modifiers to make menu navigation easier. Lightspeed ’s Option Sets makes this all possible. Option Sets allows you to customise your menu workflow for maximum efficiency.

If you sell a product in different sizes, flavours or with any other variable attribute, check out Product Variants  - this will allow you to sell as many product variations as you need - all in a neat and tidy menu.
