With Lightspeed Produce, you can use recipes to track wine sold by the glass against your bottled wine inventory. When a glass of wine is sold, the recipe automatically deducts the corresponding volume from your bottled wine. This allows you to accurately track stock movement without manually adjusting your wine inventory after each sale.

Configuring your wine products
Before configuring your wine product settings, you must first create the main wine product along with its bottle and glass variants in Back Office. If you haven't created your stocked product yet, refer to our article on creating and managing your products.
Configuring your bottled wine products
Once you've created your wine products and its variants, configure the settings for the stocked bottled wine product in Back Office. This product serves as the inventory source for your wine sold by the glass.
To configure settings of your bottled wine products:
- Log in to Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Products.
- Use the search bar to locate your bottled stock item.
- Click the cog wheel (Settings) to access the product details.
- In the Measured section, enter the default measurement of the bottled wine product.
- Select mL as the unit of measurement.
- Under Container, select Bottle.
- In the Cost Price field, enter the cost price and corresponding tax code for your bottled wine. If you're using Lightspeed Purchase, the average cost price is automatically updated when the item is received through a purchase order.
- Click Save.
- Navigate to the Accounting tab and configure the following:
- I Buy This Item: Enable this option if you purchase the bottled wine from a supplier. This allows you to include the product in purchase orders and track its purchase cost.
- I Sell This Item: Enable this option if the bottled wine is sold as a standalone product in the POS.
- I Stock This Item: Enable this option to track inventory for the bottled wine. Inventory increases when the product is received through a purchase order or updated through a stock count, and decreases when either a bottle or a glass from the same variant is sold.
- Click Save.
- Navigate to the Inventory tab and select how your bottled wine item is purchased. In this example, the wine product is Purchased in Individual which means it is purchased from a supplier as a single unit.
- Click Save.

- From the navigation menu, select Products.
- Use the search bar to locate the glass of wine product.
