Frequently asked questions

Assigning a register profile to a device

Before assigning a register profile, confirm that the register is fully set up and meets the compatible hardware requirements. If reassigning a register profile to a new device, ensure there are no active transactions, as this may interrupt service or cause syncing issues.

To assign a register profile to a device:

  1. Log in to Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
  2. Click  POS
The POS button in Back Office
  3. (Optional) If you have multiple sites, select the site where the register will be used.
  4. Select the register profile to assign to the device.
The register profiles section in the POS

Unassigning a register

Unassigning a register is useful when replacing a device, troubleshooting register issues, or moving a register profile to another device. If the register profile is currently in use on another device, unassigning it will immediately sign that device out of the register.

To avoid interrupting active transactions or service, confirm that the register is not in use before unassigning it.

To unassign a register

  1. From the navigation menu, select My site > Devices
  2. Click the cog wheel (Settings) on the register you want to unassign.
The settings button to access register details in Back Office
  3. Click Unassign register
  4. Click Save settings
The unassign register button in Back Office

Frequently asked questions
