Setting up filters, devices, and screens
Set up your filters, devices, and screens to customize how orders are displayed and managed on your Bump Screen.
- Filters: Assign each filter to show specific products. This allows you to direct orders to the appropriate area, such as the kitchen, bar, or barista.
- Devices: Androids, iOS devices, or PCs.
-
Screens: These are the actual screens you'll be using.
- Bump screens: Screens used to cross out orders and bump dockets.
- Pass screens: Screens that copy what appears on the bump screen. This is useful if one station needs to see what orders appear on another bump screen.
You’ll first need to create a filter, assign it to a device, and then set up the corresponding screen. This process should be repeated for each additional filter.
Setting up filters
To categorize and route orders to the appropriate areas, such as your kitchen, bar, or barista, you must first create and configure your bump screen filters.
To set up your filters:
- Log in to your Lightspeed Bump Screen portal.
- Select Sites from the sidebar menu.
- Click Add Filter.
- Under the Screen section, you can edit the following:
- The name of the filter.
- The number of dockets displayed on bump screens and pass screens.
- Displaying long dockets on bump screens and pass screens.
- To show categories in the Statistics Dashboard.
- To mute the notification sound.
- To group items displayed on dockets, such as by category, course, or none.
- Under the Alerts section, you can set your filter alerts:
- Minutes to the first alert.
- Minutes to the second alert.
- Minutes to held alert.
- Under the Mobile Ordering section, you can select your filter for pre-order delay:
-
Mobile ordering pre-order delay (Minutes)
Example: If an order is sent to your Lightspeed Bump Screen at 3:00 PM, is due for pickup at 3:30 PM, and your pre-order delay is set to 10 minutes, the order will display on the Lightspeed Bump Screen at 3:20 PM, which is 10 minutes before the pickup time. If no pre-order delay is set, the docket will display on the Bumpscreen at the pickup time. Note that the pre-order delay setting only affects orders with a scheduled time. -
Additional pre-order delay per docket (Seconds)
The additional pre-order delay increases the buffer for how many orders you have on the screen. This allows you to see online orders earlier, giving you more time to prepare the order during peak periods.
These settings only apply to Online orders (Deliverect, Bopple, me&u, etc). Normal orders taken at the POS are not affected. If you need to set a pickup date and time for orders that were manually entered on the POS, such as those taken over the phone, consider adding the pickup details in the Notes section on the POS before sending it to the kitchen.
-
Mobile ordering pre-order delay (Minutes)
- Under the Products section, you can select products specific to your filter.
- Under the Registers section, you can select the register to show dockets from.
- Under the Order Types section, you can select the order types to show dockets from.
Setting up devices
Once you've configured a filter, you can assign it to a particular device. Each device profile needs to be created on the actual device that will be the bump screen or pass screen.
To set up your devices:
- Select Sites from the sidebar menu.
- Select Device for the site you want to configure.
- Click Add Current Device.
- Under the Details section, enter a name for your device.
- Under the Device Type dropdown, select the type of screen.
- Configure your device's settings with the following options:
- Can Hold: You can hold dockets to the side and see how long they've been put on hold. This is particularly useful for courses.
- Can Bump: When a docket's bumped, it's completed and ready to go to the pass.
- Can Combine: Combining dockets on the Bump Screen. This is useful for courses and can be found in the Settings button.
- Can Undo: Undo combining dockets.
- Can Batch: You can cook items by batch (e.g., rice) and then mark them off from multiple orders.
-
Device Independent Bumping: Bump products from one screen without bumping that item on another screen.
- Under the SMS section, you can enable SMS notifications.
- Under the Printing section, you can add a printer for your device.
- Click Save.

Troubleshooting
If you've changed devices and can't access the Bump Screen, remove the existing device and re-add it while connected to the correct Wi-Fi. This is because Bump-it links access to the device's IP address, so any change to the device or networks can disrupt access.
To remove and re-add the device:
- Navigate to your Bump-it Back Office.
- Select Sites from the sidebar menu.
- Click Device.
- Click the trash bin icon next to the device you want to remove.
- Click Add Current Device.
- Click Save.
- Follow the steps outlined here to configure your device.
- Navigate back to Sites.
- Select Go to bump screen.
For products or dockets to appear on your Bump Screen, they must be manually selected under the appropriate filter in your settings. Since venues can have multiple filters for different screens, new products won’t be automatically included even if they belong to existing categories.
To add products to the designated filter:
- Navigate to your Bump-it Back Office.
- Select Sites from the sidebar menu.
- Select Settings.
- Click the pencil icon next to the filter where you need the products to appear.
- Under the Products section, tick the categories or individual products to display them on the filter.
- Click Save.
- (Optional) Select Auto-add new products next to the category to ensure any new items added in Lightspeed Back Office automatically appear on the Bump Screen.
- Navigate back to Sites.
- Click Sync POS.
