Syncing POS registers

Whenever you make changes to your settings or menu in Lightspeed Restaurant, you need to sync your POS system to reflect those changes. You can automatically sync registers directly from Back Office, or manually sync the POS if you're on-site.

Back Office register sync can only be performed by users with admin permission or those with manually-enabled Sites permission.

Syncing registers from Back Office

Syncing registers from Back Office can be done individually per register or across all online POS registers. When a user who has access to Back Office performs a sync on one of the registers, the POS device displays a banner notification with the name of the user who initiated the sync.

To sync POS registers from Back Office: 

  1. Log in to Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
  2. From the navigation menu, select My site > Devices.
  3. Under Registers, click Sync on the right of the register you'd like to sync.  
  4. (Optional) Click Sync online registers to sync all active POS registers.

When performing a Back Office register sync, only active registers that are not in use will be affected. Registers that are processing sales won’t sync and will indicate an outdated sync time. If this happens, initiate a sync again once it’s available.

Manually syncing the POS

If you need to update the POS with the latest changes immediately, manually trigger a sync directly from the device. This is a quick way to ensure everything is up to date without needing access to Back Office. 

To manually sync the POS:

  1. In the POS, tap the Menu (☰) icon.
  2. Select Sync.

The sync process might take a few minutes, depending on the number of updates and your network connection. Once finished, the POS will reload and apply the latest changes.

Frequently asked questions

What data is transferred when I sync registers?

The sync from Back Office is the same as the manual register sync from the POS. It will sync all updates made in the Back Office to ensure they are reflected on the POS.

Which users can access and perform the Back Office register sync?

Users who have Sites permission can perform a register sync in Back Office.

Does the last synced time in Back Office only update when I perform a sync from Back Office?

This will display all register syncs, so the time will also update if a user performs a sync from the POS.
