  • S800: Fixed Ethernet Terminal
  • S920: Mobile WiFi/4G Terminal

For Australian customers, Smartpay offers the following terminals:

How much will this integration cost?

A transaction fee may apply for using the Smartpay integration with Lightspeed POS.

How does my Smartpay terminal communicate with Lightspeed?

Smartpay terminals connect to Lightspeed via WiFi and Ethernet. Some terminals also support cellular connections via 3G/4G.

Note: Ensure the terminal has an active internet connection via Ethernet or WiFi. For Sim Card Mobile terminals, a ‘G’ will appear in the top-right corner to confirm 3G or 4G connectivity.
How do I report on sales by payment type?

Use the Reconciliations Dashboard in Insights to report on payments. You can drill down by site, payment type, and trends over time.

How do payment surcharges work with Smartpay and Lightspeed?

New Zealand: Surcharges are displayed on the POS, receipts, and as 'Payment Surcharge' in reporting.

Australia: Surcharges are not displayed on the POS or within Lightspeed O-Series reporting.

My terminal approved a payment, but the POS didn’t update, what do I do?

Press Checkout → Smartpay again. The POS will retrieve the cached payment from the terminal.

Important: Don’t make any changes to the order in the POS.

My POS register shows this message, how do I fix it?

error_message

This message means that the Smartpay terminal has processed a payment, but the POS did not receive or register it due to a communication or network error.

To fix this:

  1. Reopen the order showing the error.
  2. Select Checkout → Smartpay again to re-process the payment.

If the order was already closed using a manual payment method, ignore the message by pressing the Smartpay button in the checkout section again. This will allow you to proceed past the warning.

If you see the message below:

Screenshot 2024-06-04 at 9.15.17 AM.png

This indicates that a payment has already been marked as 'paid' in the terminal, but the sale was also closed using a different payment method in the POS. Your takings may be unbalanced at the end of the day.

To resolve this:

  • Perform a money-in/money-out adjustment.
  • Alternatively, be aware that there will be a matching out-of-balance figure in your takings.
